CHRISTMAS came early for Bromsgrove Tennis Club as all four teams in Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League action recorded victories.

Top of the tree was the Ladies A who claimed a maximum points 4-0 victory over Cutnall Green A to go top of Division Two.

Both pairs of Sally Franks with Tina Manning and Jen Law with Rachael Mack won each of their rubbers impressively in two sets.

Captain Franks said: “Cutnall fought hard but we had the edge in all the rubbers. It was great having Jen Law back in the team after working abroad for a couple of years and her return has really strengthened the squad.”

Not to be outdone was the Ladies C team who started their Division Two campaign with a 4-0 victory over rivals David Lloyd Bromsgrove B.

The new pairing of Beccy Smith with Izzy O’Connor were slow off the mark, losing their opening set before coming back to win in three tight sets.

They finished the game with a comfortable two-set win.

Lorraine Russell with Debbie Oliver were in good form, winning both rubbers in two sets.

The Men’s B team recorded a 3-1 victory over Belbroughton B in Division Three East.

The experienced pairing of Phil Boardman with Ash Rutter came together and showed their magic as they won 7-6, 6-1 before staging a great comeback to win the next game 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Jaspal Sambi with Voitek Niedzwiedz lost their match against the Belbroughton first pair but clinched a 3-1 overall victory with a subsequent 6-1, 6-3 win.

There was a tighter affair for the Men’s G team who edged out Far Forest B on games won in Division 11 East.

In a close fixture, Rich Hope with Stuart Roney and Craig Horton with Martin German won one rubber and lost the other.

With rubbers and sets equal, Bromsgrove took the winning bonus points on games won (45-40).
