JAYDEN Levitt’s sensational knock helped Bromsgrove CC to a seven-wicket win against rivals Astwood Bank with just three balls to spare in a high-scoring affair.
Levitt finished unbeaten on 165 not out and spent more than three hours at the crease at St. Godwalds Park.
Supported by Liam Ridings and Alex Milton, who both scored half-centuries, Levitt inspired the Boars to victory with 12 runs from three balls in the final over.
Astwood Bank posted a daunting 343-4 from their 50 overs as Spencer White and Isaac Hewetson both recorded centuries.
However, Bromsgrove rose to the challenge to claim victory with just three balls remaining.
The result means Bromsgrove sit second in the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table.
Bromsgrove won the toss and elected to field and took an early wicket as Will Tuffin (1-95) bowled Connor Adams (5) in the fifth over.
However, the home side’s early joy was short-lived as opener Tom Underhill (45) took the visitors close to the 100-run mark.
Abdullah Ejaz (2-78) eventually removed Underhill just five runs shy of a half-century.
However, James Pyatt (58) did reach a half-century before George Flowers (1-90) trapped him LBW.
And Ejaz claimed the wicket of Jake Browning (1) in the following over to leave Astwood Bank on 133-4.
However, that would prove to be Bromsgrove’s final scalp of the innings.
White (119 not out) and Hewetson (107 not out) scored runs freely in a 210-run fifth-wicket stand.
White hit 17 boundaries including six maximums in an 80-ball innings while Hewetson faced 75 balls and hit 19 fours.
In reply, Boars opener Ryan Pedley (0) fell for an 11-ball duck in the fifth over.
However, Levitt (165 not out) and Liam Ridings (53) scored runs quickly with the latter’s knock coming at a run-a-ball.
Thomas Harris (2-84) accounted for Ridings to leave Bromsgrove on 84-2.
Levitt and Milton (95) produced a 192-run fourth-wicket stand before Harris bowled the latter just five runs short of a century in an 82-ball knock.
And Levitt and Oliver Mason (17 not out) guided the Boars to victory in the final over.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Ombersley 2nds on Saturday, July 12 with the game to begin as 12pm at Main Road.
