BROMSGROVE CC suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat against Himley after the Boars were bowled out for just 111 in the Birmingham Premier League Division Two clash.

Despite winning the toss and electing to bat, only Lewis Cordes (28), Deon Patel (24) and Alex Wilkinson (21) made more than 20 runs as Bromsgrove failed to recover from a slow start that saw them slump to 63-5.

Alex Milton (16) and Connor Smith (13) were the only other batters to reach double figures as the visitors collapsed from 103-6 to 111 all out.

And the Boars found Himley opener Bilal Hussain (76 not out) in fine form as he guided Himley to a comfortable win despite Richard Kimberlin (1-17) claiming the wicket of Oliver Cox (25).

The result means Bromsgrove sit ninth in the table still well clear of the relegation places.

Elsewhere, Bromsgrove’s 2nd XI claimed a winning draw against Himley’s 2nd XI thanks to a stunning 110-run knock from Raynaldo Estwick and four wickets from Ryan Pedley.

The club’s 3rd XI played out a losing draw against Worcester after closing on 200-8 in chase of 262 as captain Mark Bilbrough top scored with 59 and the 4th XI lost by 263 runs at Burghill, Tillington and Weobley.
