CRICKET - Bromsgrove skittle Walsall in low-scoring affair

BROMSGROVE CC claimed a 64-run win against Walsall CC to sit third in the Birmingham and District Premier League Division Two table.

Despite slipping to 9-2 after losing openers Connor Smith (6) and Jayden Levitt (3), Ashley Newfield helped stabilise the innings with a solid knock of 41 from just 44 deliveries.

Lewis Cordes was Bromsgrove’s next best batter with 24 as the home side struggled to build a lengthy partnership throughout the innings.

Bromsgrove were eventually bowled out for 153 in 41.5 overs before they produced an exemplary bowling display to leave their opponents stunned.




The home side reduced Walsall to 15-4 after ripping through their top order as Hashim Iqbal (22) showed some resistance before he fell to the bowling of Alex Wilkinson.

And Bromsgrove then had Walsall at 65-8 as the wickets continued to tumble before they skittled the visitors for just 89 in 28.4 overs.


Wilkinson (4-32) was the chief wicket taker whilst Connor Smith took 3-25, Warwickshire bowler Liam Norwell impressed with figures of 2-5 and Freddie Fallows also grabbed a wicket.
