BROMSGROVE Cricket Club’s first team were unable to secure their first league win of the season as the Boars battled to a losing draw against Harborne.

Warwickshire pace ace Oliver Hannon-Dalby ripped through Bromsgrove’s top order as the Boars were forced to dig in and take seven points from the fixture.

Bromsgrove won the toss and elected to field and were rewarded when Henry Marshall (2-58) took the early wicket of Tom Arnold (9).

And Will Tuffin (3-21) then claimed the scalps of Jamie Harris (18) and Swapnil Gugale (35) to leave Harborne in trouble on 66-4.

However, Tejas Wagle (56) top scored with an impressive knock and built a solid partnership with Jimmy Clifford (38).

Bromsgrove pair James Bayliss (3-38) and Zakariah Abbas (1-29) accounted for Harborne’s other batters as the Boars bowled out their opponents for 193 in the final over.

In reply, Bromsgrove made a strong start as openers Jayden Levitt (31) and Amaan Hassan (25) put on 63 runs for the first wicket.

However, experienced Warwickshire bowler Hannon-Dalby (5-18) took a spate of wickets as Bromsgrove slumped to 72-5.

Abbas (28 not out) and Alex Wilkinson (14) helped steady the ship as Bromsgrove’s batters dug in to reach 118-8 at the end of their innings.

Bromsgrove’s first team are next in action away at winless Tamworth on Saturday, May 27 with play to begin at midday at Hints Road.
