BARNT Green started their Birmingham Premier League campaign with a comfortable victory over newly promoted Kenilworth Wardens.
Having won the toss and put the Wardens into bat, veteran Andy Sutton got the season off to a flying start with two wickets in the first over which included the scalp of overseas player Ali Asif.
Fellow opening bowler, England’s Olly Stone was soon in on the act removing Nick Seager with the Wardens eventually dismissed for just 41 off 21 overs.
Every Wardens batter failed to make double figures with extras top scoring for Kenilworth with 12.
In reply, Ed Pollock’s 40 not out made short work of chasing down the target as he hit four sixes and three fours as Barnt Green reached the required total in just 24 balls.
Elsewhere, Barnt Green’s 2nd and 3rd XI eased to their first wins of the season, with the 2nd XI bowling out Coombs Wood 1st XI for just 69.
Wickets were shared between Jack Warner x2, Cam Jones x3, Jack Felton x3 and Henry Marshall x2 – with the target chased down for the loss of just one wicket.
And the 3rd XI batted first in their game against Bewdley 2nd XI, posting an impressive score of 184 courtesy of Elliot Evans (48) and Ben Whitton (34 not out).
Barnt Green then preceded to bowl Bewdley out for 146 with Whitton claiming three wickets to win by 36 runs.
