Catshill named charter club of the year

Bromsgrove Editorial 7th Nov, 2016   0

CATSHILL have been recognised for their community and grassroots involvement after being voted FA Charter Standard Club of the Year for the South West region of England by the Football Association.

The club, run and coached by volunteers, has a raft of ten youth teams, from under-sevens to under-15s including a new girls’ team, as well as vets and supervets teams.

Chairman Micky Stanley said he was “over the moon” with the accolade, having been nominated as Worcestershire’s winner earlier this year.

“It is a superb award for our club and recognises our remarkable progress over recent seasons,” he said. “We only gained FA Charter Standard a few seasons ago so for our club to win this against all clubs from Birmingham right down to Cornwall is a magnificent achievement.”

Head coach Matt Pugh said: “We are a family club with teams from five years upwards our latest addition being a girls team.

“Our boys and girls love being on the school field training every Saturday morning and we are proud to represent the Catshill community.”

The club plays at Catshill Middle School and Catshill Meadow, with the youth teams playing in the Central Warwickshire Youth League.
