CATSHILL Cobras under 11s have been crowned joint winners of the Ron Handy Memorial Cup.

The team were due to play Kidderminster Harriers in the final but it was cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The girls started out in the under 10s last season and have 13 in the squad for their matches which are nine-a-side.

After losing their opening game of the season to Kidderminster Harriers, they won every game they played after that.

Manager Mark Fortner said: “Whilst it was a shame for the girls not to get to play in the final, it is fantastic they are joint winners and all of them will now get a medal.

“We have had a really good season and I think the final due to be played would’ve been between the two best teams in the group.

“We had been playing really well up until the football stopped.

“We are looking forward to getting together again for the new season when we go into a competitive division.”
