Cannons fully firing to earn second win in the Summer League

THE DYNAMIC shooting of goal shooter’s Becky Alton and Harriet Groucher handed Old Bromsgrovians Cannons a second win of the Worcester City Netball Premier Division on Monday.

A 42-29 victory at Tudor Grange against BJ Dappers lifted Bromsgrove off the bottom of the table, in a closely contested game.

Both sides were locked level at 11-11 after the first quarter, with the deadlock still in place at half-time with the scores standing at 22-22 in the Summer League clash.

But with defenders Maisie Rose, Molly Eales and Laura Wright proving stern opposition to the BJ Dappers shooters, and the creative duo of Brogan Connolly and Bea Lee putting chances on a plate for Alton and Groucher, the Cannons were able to pull ahead.

Bromsgrove established a 13-point lead in the final quarter, a lead they did not relinquish, to run out winners.

OB now aim to capitalise on the victory and create a winning streak of form, next testing themselves against fifth-placed Zodiac on Monday (7pm).

The club are always looking out for new players and umpires to join them, and urge anyone that may be interested to get in touch via the club’s Facebook page at ‘OB Netball (Bromsgrove)’.
