TWO Bromsgrove brothers celebrated second-place finishes at the IAME International Karting World Championship in Le Mans recently.
Alfie and Freddie Slater, both Bromsgrove Prep School pupils, headed for north-west France confident of success, with Freddie spurred on by his desire to improve on his runner-up finish in the X30 Mini category last year.
He looked likely to do just that when leading for the majority of the week and regularly posting fastest times in his group, only to end up on the grass in the final race.
Undeterred, Freddie came back from ninth to second in the space of two laps to match his 2018 performance.
Alfie, meanwhile, was racing in the Cadet category and finished a mere 0.127 seconds behind winning driver Alex O’Grady to repeat his brother’s feat in taking a silver medal.
