BROMSGROVE triathlete and sports massage therapist Sam Boswell is celebrating after she secured her place at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

Racing at Ironman UK, Boswell, won her category to book her place at the championships which take place at Kailua-Kona on October 8.

The Ironman thriathlon consists of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and 42.2km run and with only one spot available to book her place in Hawaii, she pulled out all the stops to take first place.

Self-coached and sponsored by Elliot Nash Limited, Sam says without sponsorship she would never have even entered Ironman Uk and expressed her delight after booking her Hawaii spot.

” I can’t tell you how hard I have worked for this result both on the day at Ironman UK but in training too,” she said.

“I have had a lot of help from friend Mike Hazlewood from The Saracen cycling club and that made all the difference to my bike on race day.

“He is never easy on me and often it’s not enjoyable but it paid off and I’m so very grateful for the help.”

On the day Sam was cheered on by husband Andy and son Charlie who have both been a huge help.

“Andy has driven me to races and massively helped with my injury prevention and on the day logistics when my head is a mess he is always organised and the voice of reason,” she added.

“Charlie is my inspiration for everything, I can’t wait to show him Hawaii.”
