BROMSGROVE Tennis Club have enjoyed success in their recent Herefordshire & Worcestershire Winter League matches, with victories for the C and F men’s sides.

The men’s F team secured a first win of the season against Wollaston D, taking the victory on rubbers won.

It will boost their relegation fight, but they remain bottom of the Division 10 East on eight points.

Playing with a pairing of Barry Ross and Giles Hyder, Bromsgrove took the first match 6-4, 6-3, before winning the second 6-4, 6-1, also in straight sets.

The second pairing of Mark Hudson and Martin Higgins lost out both their matches, but came very close to coming out on the winning side in two three-setters.

They went down 6-4, 6-0, 8-6 in the first match, and 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 in the second.

Despite finishing 2-2, they came out 6-4 winners on sets won to take vital points ahead of taking on Wall Heath D this Sunday.

Bromsgrove C, meanwhile, extended their lead at the top of the Division Five East after an 8-2 victory over Halesowen B.

Max Feltham and Pete Morris disposed of Halesowen’s Jim Randle and Rickesh Sharma in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.

They followed up by winning 6-4, 6-3 over Thomas Bird and Darren Cleary in the final rubber.

John Casey and Tim Wright fought out three-set thrillers in both of their rubbers.

They fell to a 6-0, 5-7, 6-7 defeat to Bird and Cleary in their first match but found redemption against Randle and Sharma, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to secure victory for their side.
