BROMSGROVE School’s under-15 netball team left it late as they were crowned national champions in the final of the Independent Schools’ Cup.
The team battled hard against a strong The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) in the final which was held at Redbridge Sports Centre in Ilford last Friday (March 10).
The game ebbed and flowed with both sides taking the initiative during the first three quarters but the drama was saved until the final period.
Bromsgrove were leading by six goals at the start of the final period but determined play from GSAL saw them claw back the deficit and with 90 seconds to go, the score was locked at 33-33.
But despite losing their captain, Bromsgrove snatched the win as a great interception from Katie Morrice allowed her to find the space to shoot the winning goal with just ten seconds left on the clock.
A spokesperson for Bromsgrove School said: “Well done to this outstanding team who are winners of the Independent Schools’ Cup and now national champions.”
