BROMSGROVE School’s U16 girls team finished as runners-up in the regional final of the National Schools’ competition at Tipton Sports Academy.
The team beat a strong Moreton Hall 4-2 in the semi-final before losing 5-1 to Leicester Grammar School in the final.
This put Bromsgrove into the top-ten school teams in the country for their age group.
It was the first time in history a Bromsgrove School team had reach the regional finals.
Prior to then, the team had been involved in a summer tournament where they beat King’s School Worcester, Malvern College and Malvern St James.
This put them in a knock-out stage where they went on to beat Solihull School and Northampton School to reach the regional final.
Tennis coach Sally Franks said: “They are a fantastic group of players, who all train with commitment throughout the winter months and we are thrilled they have done so well against the best young players in the country.”
