BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC suffered a 6-0 mauling at the hands of early Birmingham and District Football League Division 3 pace-setters Midland Lions on Saturday.
Midland Lions started the new league campaign with a 5-0 victory away at Nechells Athletic last weekend, while Rovers AFC had shown their determination, scoring a late equaliser in their 2-2 home draw against Kawala FC.
In the first half of this encounter, Nazar Timar put the home side ahead after 12 minutes before Omar McKenzie added a quick-fire brace in the 27th and 29th minutes, as the sides clashed at the University of Wolverhampton’s Walsall Campus, Gorway Road, Walsall.
It then really came a day to forget for Rovers as bad went to worse in the second half with the relentless Lions scoring a further three times without reply.
Humazah Najib had hit a six-minute hat-trick with goals in the 82nd, 86th and 88th minutes as the game finished 6-0.
Following Saturday’s round of fixtures, Midland Lions lead Division 3 on goal difference with six points from two games, while Rovers AFC, who are without a fixture next weekend, are eighth on one point.
There are three other sides below Rovers each without a point.
