BROMSGROVE Men’s G team took on high-flying Halesowen C in Division 11 East and came away with a bonus points victory.
Opening the match, Martin German with Craig Horton drew first blood with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Fabrice Vincent with Paul Douglas found it tougher going in their opener, finally going down in a third set tie break.
In the second round of games Vincent and Douglas won in two sets 6-4, 6-2 but Horton and German lost 3-6, 1-6,
With rubbers even at 2-2, the extra set won by Vincent and Douglas gave Bromsgrove the overall win and important bonus points to cement their mid-table position and dent Halesowen’s promotion hopes.
Meanwhile, the Ladies C team did not taste victory as they went down to Halesowen A in Division Four East.
The visitors proved too strong for the Bromsgrove pairs of Claudia Bullock with Gemma Calthorpe and Marie Hackett with Lorraine Russell.
Bullock and Calthorpe opened with a battling defeat in a close third set tie break but from thereon Halesowen had the edge and won 0-4.
The result puts the C team in danger of relegation with a critical match against Droitwich B looming on February 25.
