BROMSGROVE Men’s B returned to action with a 3-1 victory over Stourbridge C in Division Three East of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League.
Jeth Tomlinson with Matt Smith opened with a decisive victory in two sets before a tight three-set battle in their second rubber.
They stepped up a gear to win the deciding set 6-0 for two good wins.
Ash Rutter with Phil Boardman were pipped in an opening three-set clash, losing the first and final sets on tie breaks.
However, after another three-set marathon, they clinch the final set 6-3 to guarantee Bromsgrove the win and bonus points.
It was not good news for the Men’s D team who went down 3-1 to Wollaston A in Division Seven East.
Des Brown with David Brace won a tight three-set encounter after losing their opener.
The new pairing of Tom Round and John Dudek played well but lost both rubbers.
The Men’s F travelled to David Lloyd Worcester D in Division Ten East and were outclassed, losing 4-0.
Meanwhile, the Ladies C team lost 3-1 to Ombersley A in Division Four East.
Both pairs of Debbie Oliver with Claudia Bullock and Debbie Pegler with Connie Wedelich fought hard.
Pegler and Wedelich won a long three-set encounter on a tie break after losing the second set on a tie break.
Oliver and Bullock went down in their second match after losing another a tie break.
