Bromsgrove Ladies B start summer season strongly

BROMSGROVE Ladies B opened up their account in Division Two of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire League with a strong 4-2 away at Ledbury A.

The star performers were Joan McGregor and Linda Wooley who won both their rubbers in two sets, dropping only a handful of games.

Katherine Smedley with Ann Banner playing as the first pair had a win and a loss, as did they the third pair of Hannah Weston with Kelly Kenward.

The Ladies D team, playing in Division Seven, made it two wins on the trot after claiming a 6-0 victory over David Lloyd Worcester.




Despite the emphatic scoreline, Bromsgrove needed a number of three set rubbers, however, the growing experience of the team shone through as they battled hard to claim victory.

Sue Forrest with Lesley Hodson had two convincing wins in two sets.


Sarah Davies with Catherine Maund as the first pair and Jane Corbett with Carol Cornelissen as the third pair pulled off great wins to ensure the best possible result for Bromsgrove.

Bromsgrove’s Men’s A team have found life tough in the Midlands West Division of the AEGON Team Tennis competition as they lost their third game of the season.

The A team travelled to Stratford and lost on a close shoot-out after the match finished 3-3.

Adam Dudek was edged out 10-8 in the singles shoot-out and Bromsgrove narrowly missed out in the doubles shoot-out.

In Division Two of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire AEGON league, the Men’s B team of Ollie Stratford, Steve Jones, David Jameson and Matt Smith kept their unbeaten start going after trouncing Hallow A 6-0.

Stratford fought from a set down to earn a great win while Steve Jones was also pushed all the way in his match.

Jameson and Smith won their matches in two sets.

The doubles also saw convincing victories for Bromsgrove to seal a maximum point victory.
