Boswell misses out on Euro medal

SAM BOSWELL Sam Boswell returned from the European Triathlon Championships with mixed emotions after narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.

Boswell, of SBRMassage, posted the second fastest run and third quickest bike spilt on the course in Geneva, which would normally stand her in good stead for a medal.

But her swim and transitions let her down as she had to settle for a fourth placed finish in the competition which attracts top European athletes over the standard distance triathlon.

Despite the disappointment of not landing a place on the podium, Boswell, who qualified by winning the National Championships in 2014, said she was now focused on improving for next year.

“It’s getting tougher and tougher to qualify for the GB team with so many strong athletes in the UK so it’s always a privilege to wear the kit and get to the start line of any international races,” she said.

“I have been working crazy hours establishing my sports massage business so couldn’t really dedicate the hours needed in training so I have to be pleased with fourth but third was only 15 seconds away so that was very frustrating.

“I have a more flexible working pattern now so hope I can dedicate more time to my training ready for next year’s Europeans and my other races.”
