Boars aim to avoid Broadstreet shock

Bromsgrove Editorial 31st Jan, 2020   0

DAN Protherough’s Bromsgrove will not be taking Saturday’s meeting with lowly Broadstreet lightly when the two sides go head-to-head at Finstall Road (2.15pm).

The Boars narrowly edged their previous Midlands Premier encounter, a 17-7 win in October, thanks to tries from Drew Harper and Jack Tharme, but were unable to run away with the scoreline against the stubborn hosts.

Broadstreet will remain buoyant following their 17-13 defeat of fourth-placed Bridgnorth in their last outing three weeks ago, hoping to use the result to inspire them to another surprise victory against fifth-placed Bromsgrove.

Droitwich, meanwhile, have it all to do away to Midlands One West title contenders Lichfield at Tamworth Road (2.15pm).

The Monners, who are 11th, had struggled in recent weeks after a four-matching losing run before Christmas, but turned a corner with their 10-7 defeat of basement side Kidderminster 10-7 last time out.

Second-placed Lichfield have only lost twice at home this season, but a record which Ryan Bower’s men will be determined to extend.
