A PASSIONATE part-time footballer hopes to inspire the next generation of stars across Bromsgrove and Redditch with the launch of a new coaching business.

Alfie Bloomer, from Bromsgrove, has set up A2BCoaching to help develop and coach youngsters across the two towns.

The 19-year-old also hopes to help better the weaknesses of more experienced players.

“My passion lies in football and I figured why focus solely on me when I can try and help develop and coach younger footballers to grow themselves into better players,” he said.

“With the success of the likes of Bromsgrove Sporting, all local, young footballers are looking up to their players.

“And my sole purpose is to inspire the younger players into pursuing a career in football but also helping the older ones to get a kick-start in their careers.”

Still learning his trade in the sport as a teenager, Alfie admitted some people questioned his ability to run a coaching business.

“I think people always see experience is better than talent,” he told the Standard.

“In some cases I agree but being in the game at the moment and also being a coach I think that gives energy to those I coach.

“And it gives them a more ‘hands-on’ feel knowing their coach is currently going through what they are doing.”

Alfie first started coaching at St John’s Middle School when he was just 14 years old and carried on that passion when he attended South Bromsgrove High School.

He then took up sports and exercise science at Heart of Worcestershire College which helped him secure a job running football coaching sessions for schools across the county before taking up a role at the Football Development Centre in Studley.

And once the youngster hangs up his boots, Bloomer hopes to still be in the game in some capacity.

“Managing is definitely something I would be interested in.

“When I do eventually hang up my boots, the passion for football will never go away so I think I will still be in the game long after I retire in the future.”
