Black Horse continue good Bromsgrove and District League start

BLACK HORSE continued their good start to the new Bromsgrove & District League Premier Division season with a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Northfield Athletic.

After making the move across from the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination, Horse have now won their opening two games of the season thanks to a hat-trick from Joe Adams and braces from Robbie Bunn and Sean Brain.

Sam Valente got on the scoresheet for Athletic.

Alcester Town picked up their first three points of the new campaign as they eased to a 5-1 victory away at Meadow Park thanks to a hat-trick from Lewis Marston and one each from Ellis Kalach and Callum Daniel.




Rubery Athletic got their campaign off to a good start with a 2-0 victory over Meadow Park with both goals coming from Andy Court.

Meanwhile, newly promoted Bartley Green Illey Sunday tasted defeat in their season opening game as they were edged out 2-1 by Millfield Rovers.


Nathan McLaughlin and Nathan Broadhurst fired Rovers into a 2-0 lead before Brad Bullimore reduced the arrears.

Rubery sit at the summit of the Division One table after cruising to a 5-1 victory at Sporting Rednal courtesy of Paddy Behan hat-trick and strikes from Mason Mansfield and Sean Donovan.

Daniel Wilkes had given Rednal the lead before their demise.

In their first run out of the new season, Chaddesley Corbett enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Red Lion thanks to strikes from Matt Perry, Lewis Phillips, Ryan Moore and Shane Trossell.

New boys FC Highgate United are still awaiting their first victory of the season after being held to a 2-2 draw by Oak Tree Sporting.

Jack Steele and David Marsh got on the scoresheet for Sporting.

Quinton Athletic prop up the table following their narrow 2-1 defeat to Wychbold RBL. James Hunt netted for Athletic.

Elsewhere, two goals from Dane Morgan guided Bromsgrove Athletico to a 2-0 victory over FC Hop Pole.

Sporting Club Redditch kept up their 100 per cent start in Division Two as they cruised to a 3-1 victory over AFC Northfield.

Billy Garvey (2) and Brett Skinner got on the scoresheet for the league leaders.

In a seven-goal thriller at the King George Playing Fields, Spa Athletic edged past Redditch United Sunday 4-3 thanks to goals from Kev Owens, Matt Winsper, Jack Weatherby and Tom Harris.

Sam Robinson, Nathan Derrick and Troy Herbert netted for United.

Winyates claimed a 3-0 victory away at Awkies Allstarts while the other game in the division saw Studley Lions walk away with a 1-0 victory at Hewell thanks to a solitary strike from Nick Briggs.

Arrow Valley consolidated their position at the top of the Division Three table with a comfortable 5-1 victory away at Stoke Prior thanks to a Robert Voice brace and singles from Jacob King, Garry Harvey and substitute Jack Grinnell.

Hat-tricks from Alex Beck and Tom Mason guided Bromsgrove Corinthians to a 6-1 victory over Bromsgrove Academicals while Rubery Legends enjoyed a 6-3 victory over Meadow Park Youth.

Jahmel Travis (3), Adam Doupe, Luke Parker and Lee Farrell netted the winning goals for Legends.

Elsewhere, Millfield Rovers Reserves claimed a 4-1 victory away at Cofton Old Boys courtesy of goals from Ryan Wood (2), Ash Roland and Dom Phillips.
