BARNT GREEN’S Siena Horton has been selected for Great Britain’s under-16 alpine ski team for the Children’s International Races in the Czech Republic at the start of 2017.

The 14-year-old Bromsgrove School pupil will be in action on January 27/28 in the giant slalom and slalom events.

Horton, who is in only her first year of representing the under 16s, will be making her third appearance for GB since making her debut for the team in January for the under 14 squad.

She raced in Andorra where she claimed one podium as well as a further three top ten finishes.

Horton then took part in the English Alpine Championships in Bormio, Italy, in February when she finished first in the under 14 slalom as well as securing two second places in the girls’ Super G race.

She then participated in the prestigious Topolino race in Folgaria, Italy, in March.

Training with Austrian-based Ambition Racing, Horton has spent the summer period in New Zealand brushing up on her skills.

The teen ace has also landed a sponsorship deal with Atomic UK for the start of this season.
