BARNT Green were swept aside by Brockhampton who eased to a 186-run victory in a rain-affected Birmingham League Premier Division clash.

Danny Irvine led the way for the home side as he recorded 91 before he was caught by Joshua Poysden following the bowling of Andrew Sutton.

After Chris Boroughs was removed ten short of his half century, Green claimed three more wickets as Brockhampton went from 125-2 to 167-5.

But Irvine’s runs proved decisive, while a quick-fire 55 from Ian Bullock and a brisk 18 from Chris Powell contributed to the hosts’ innings of 263.

Green would have been looking to get off to a positive start, but they were soon on the back foot as Sam Cheshire was bowled by Boroughs for two.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals as Edward Pollock, Tom Brown and William Baker were dismissed to leave Green on 63-4.

Despite the early blows, Green were still in the match, but once Sutton was removed for 17 they were quickly skittled out.

After reaching 75 before Sutton was trapped LBW by Callum Stewart the hosts could only make a further five runs.

Poysden, Darrel Williams, Alastair Pollock, Edward Saunders and Miles Garrett all fell for ducks as Brockhampton secured an emphatic victory.
