Barnt Green skier Siena Horton shines in Czech Republic

BARNT GREEN’S Siena Horton is celebrating after she came fourth overall representing the Team GB Alpine Team at the under-16s Girls’ slalom in the Czech Republic.

The Bromsgrove School pupil also finished eighth for Team GB in the giant slalom event in the International Czech Ski Race.

A total of 38 girls were selected for the races from 11 nations.

Siena said: “My 2016/17 season hadn’t started so well but luckily I had five perfect training days the week before in Austria and made huge improvements so thanks to my coach Rob Bullen at Ambition Racing.

“It was my first race for the under-16 16 GB Team and I’m bottom year so I’m over the moon with my results.

“I look forward to working hard next week when I return to Austria for the run-up to the English Alpine Championships.”

Siena has been skiing since she was three years old and started her racing career when she was ten.

Her next competition will be the Alpine championships in Bormio, Italy from Monday, February 13 to Friday, February 17 where she will race in all three disciplines – slalom, giant slalom and super G.
