BARNT GREEN Tennis Club enjoyed another successful weekend as the Ladies A team secured promotion and the Division 11 title in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League.
With only one game left, the Ladies A team of Linda Garvin and Chris Miles along with Sarah Morgan and Debbie Warren saw off neighbours Droitwich F in comfortable fashion with a 4-0 victory; losing only one set.
Linda and Chris proved to be particularly ruthless as they only lost one game in their two matches.
The Mixed B team moved to the top of Division Six with a 4-0 victory over Kidderminster B.
Beth Harris and James Flynn along with Martyn Langston and namesake Pat recorded straight set victories.
PAUL COWIE has been appointed as the new head tennis coach at Barnt Green Tennis Club and will take over from April 1.
Terry Franks, the current head coach, has decided to call time on his coaching career and resign from his role due to ongoing back and shoulder problems.
Paul, the current men’s champion, has been a member at Barnt Green for nearly 20 years and has been working alongside Terry for the last four.
He is a level four qualified coach and is keen to make his mark on the club with new ideas and enthusiasm.
