BROTHERS Gabriel and Jacob Wagstaff made a winning start to the new West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League season in Walsall representing Bromsgrove and Redditch AC (BRAC).
Gabriel triumphed in the under-15 boys race, leading from gun to tape to cross the line in 10 minutes and 20 seconds, five seconds ahead of the chasing pack.
And younger brother Jacob won the under-13 boys race in a scintillating sprint finish, coming home in 8 mins and 32 secs, six seconds clear of his closest challenger.
BRAC took 27 athletes to the fixture with the under-15 girls producing the best performance of any of the club’s teams with a fourth-place finish in their category.
Kara Welborn led the team home in 10th place with Caitlin Pridden 13th, Leah Sharp 26th, Phoebe Ranger 35th, Daisy Barwood 46th, Winnie Padmore 47th and Celia Atkins 57th.
The next meeting takes place in Rugby on Sunday, November 12.
