ATHLETICS - Bromsgrove and Redditch AC campaign to replace steeplechase barriers at Abbey Stadium

Bromsgrove Editorial 14th Dec, 2021   0

BROMSGROVE and Redditch Athletic Club hope to raise £5,000 by campaigning to replace the steeplechase barriers at the Abbey Stadium ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The club is based at the Abbey Stadium which had its barriers removed in 2020 after they were in a state of disrepair and hope to raise £5,000 to reinstate the barriers.

That means the club’s thriving running community cannot train in the steeplechase event as they attempt to give all current and future athletes the chance to try as many events as possible.

And the club are asking members of the public and local businesses to help them achieve their goal of replacing the steeplechase barriers and water jump at the track.

Bromsgrove and Redditch AC are pushing to raise £5,000 with barriers costing around £800 each.

The club has stressed that any and all support to their cause is appreciated.
