Another win for Bromsgrove Crusaders

BROMSGROVE Crusaders chalked up another victory as they secured a 19-5 success over visiting Redditch 2nds.

Crusaders fielded a strong squad but didn’t reproduce the rugby which has epitomised them this season.

The result was never in doubt but they made hard work in putting together phases of play.

It was all a little frantic with handling errors from both sides.

Bromsgrove opened up the scoring with a well taken try by fly half Ben Copson.

Copson converted to make it 7-0.

Redditch’s forwards played well with a considerable weight advantage and dominated much of the line-outs throughout the game.

A second converted try resulted from free-flowing play involving a number of players and was finished off by Dan Ingram to give Crusaders a 14-0 lead at the break.

After the break, Bromsgrove came out and delivered a more controlled performance.

However, Redditch never gave an inch, tackled well and were rewarded with a try.

Bromsgrove responded immediately, though, with centre Paul Thomas carving his way through for a try.

Copson thought he’d scored a try late on only for the video referee to chalk it off.

Crusaders welcome Alcester Vets to Finstall Park on Saturday.
