AFC Northfield open BRS Shield account with fine victory at Sporting Grapevine

AFC NORTHFIELD opened their Bromsgrove & Redditch Standard Shield account with a 7-1 victory at Sporting Grapevine in Group D.

Chris Chapman (3), Connor Deards (2), Richard Maguire and 16-year-old debutant Cahan Lee were on target for the visitors.

Liam Spink bagged a treble as Austin Ex Apprentices consolidated top spot in Group A with a 5-1 victory over Wychbold RBL.

Andy Nicol and Jak Walton completed Austin’s scoring.




Hawthorns FC got their Group C campaign to a goal-filled start as they secured a 7-4 success at Sporting Club Redditch.

Dan Sill and a hat-trick of penalties from James Gifford contributed to Redditch’s tally.


Also in Group C, goals from Danny Moy (2), Joe Haines, Chris McGrath and Michael Crook fired Avenue FC to a 5-2 victory over Chaddesley Corbett.

There was plenty of joy for Bromsgrove League in the first round of the Worcester Nursing Cup, with six out of seven teams playing on the day progressing.

Meadow Park had a narrow 4-3 win over St Johns while Meadow Park Youth had a convincing 5-0 win over Northwick Saints, thanks to Ollie Taylor’s hat-trick and strikes from Will Symonds and James Bullock.

Chaddesley Pensioners secured a 5-1 victory over Worcester Saints, Chaddesley Ravens enjoyed a 5-3 success at Express Falcons and Kings Norton Sporting beat Eaton Reserves 5-1.

Elsewhere, the only BDFL team to taste defeat was Stoke Prior as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at Drakes Broughton Rangers Reserves.

Studley Lions made it three wins out of three in Group A of the Bridgwater Cup after thumping Crown Athletic 6-1.

Marc Jovanovic (2), Ben Ellicott, Jamie Hatfield, James Grady and an own goal were the scorers for Lions.

In an eight-goal thriller at South Bromsgrove 3G, Bromsgrove Academicals and Hizza United shared the spoils in a 4-4 draw.

Lickey End Social thumped Millfield Rovers 11-0 in Group B, thanks to goals from Rory Tuffin (2), Will Bachus (2), Ash Bachus, Adam Ward, Stuart Cox, James Nolan, Jake Saunders, Alex O’Brien and an own-goal.

Redditch United eased past Bromsgrove Raiders 7-0, while in Group C, Jason Gibbons helped himself to four goals as Awkies Allstars cruised to a 12-1 victory over Catshill.

Arrow Valley cemented top spot in Group D with an emphatic 12-0 win at AFC Norton.

Jay Wright led the way with five goals, James Priddle hit a treble while Connor Atkinson and Garry Harvey struck braces.
