Action packed day of fundraising in store for Bromsgrove Hockey Club

IT is set to be an action packed day of hockey, all in the name of charity, after Bromsgrove Hockey Club accepted the invitation for an exhibition match this weekend.

Hockey for Heroes (H4H) Ladies will prove the opposition for Bromsgrove on Sunday (February 24), who’s squad will be made up of an ensemble of players across their five ladies teams.

The Hockey for Heroes charity is a national organisation that raises funds for Help the Heroes, achieving this aim by completing rigorous challenges on and off the hockey field.

Their squad is set to consist of star players from around the country, in the past for example – containing Scotland’s Commonwealth squad member Nikki Alexander-Lloyd.

H4H Ladies will also do battle against two other sides on Sunday, which will include sides from Stourport, and Olton & West Warwick Hockey Club.

Dawn Tomlinson, captain of Bromsgrove Ladies third team, said: “Bromsgrove as a club have been avid supporters of the Hockey for Heroes since their inception in 2012.

“We were notified that another opposition had dropped out just last week, and we felt it our duty to step up to the challenge posed by H4H.

“Despite the H4H squad possessing much more advanced players than ours, Bromsgrove as a club is extremely high-spirited and could not shy from the opportunity to share the field with such an awe-inspiring range of players from H4H and hope to help make the day a success.”

Hockey for Heroes CEO Joel Forrester praised the generosity of Bromsgrove Hockey Club to accept the challenge and help out with the day.

“We were very pleased with the response from Bromsgrove to help make the charity fundraising day even more action-packed for audiences.

“Our H4H Men’s Squad previously faced Bromsgrove Men’s 1st XI in 2014 so it’s serendipity to have our ladies side face them 5 years on.”

The event takes place at RGS The Grange in Worcester on Sunday, with games kicking off at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm (vs Bromsgrove).

Donations are being accepted on the day, whilst donations can be made online by clicking on the following link: hwww.justgiving.com/fundraising/hockey-for-heroes

H4H would like to encourage existing and new supporters to attend the event and enjoy watching some fantastic hockey, plus help in raising all-important funds for the charity.
