Zumba, Stretch and Tone and Couch to 5k courses starting in Bromsgrove in the new year

Bromsgrove Editorial 29th Dec, 2018   0

THERE will be three brand new fitness classes in the new year and a couch to 5K course in January to help residents to improve their health in the new year.

From the middle of January residents can try out Strength and Balance, Zumba Gold and Stretch and Tone classes as well as a new Couch to 5k course, at venues right across the district.

Zumba Gold starts on January 15 at St Andrew’s Church with classes perfect for active adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves at a lower intensity. Each session lasts one hour and costs £3.30.

Following Zumba Gold on the same day at the same location there will be Stretch and Tone from 10.15am. The great gentle exercise class is designed to tone muscles whilst at the same time keeping them long and flexible.

This session also lasts for one hour and costs £3.30. Anyone who wishes to take part in both classes can do so for a reduced rate of £5.

Residents looking for a more structured approach to getting fit can start the next Couch to 5k course at the end of January.

Designed for absolute beginners, the sessions will run on Sundays at 11am on Alvechurch Meadows and Mondays at 6pm at Lickey End Recreation Ground. The course runs for nine weeks and costs £1 per 45 minute session.

For any late resolution makers hoping to begin the year off with some gentle exercise there will be Strength and Balance classes, run by a Level 4 Qualified instructor, at Bromsgrove Methodist Centre from February 13, running each week at 12pm.

Each Strength and Balance class costs £3 on a pay as you go basis and lasts for one hour. The classes are designed to help participants gain more confidence, improving balance and posture as well as increasing strength, mobility and flexibility. Advanced booking is required for this class.

The council’s community classes are designed to be approachable and welcoming for residents who might struggle to access traditional forms of exercise, need daytime classes or prefer community based exercise to gyms which can be intimidating.

Anyone interested in any of the sessions or wanting any general advice on exercise and getting fit should call Hayley Gwilliam on 01527 881404.
