Your round-up of Remembrance services across Bromsgrove

PEOPLE across the Bromsgrove district will fall silent on Sunday to remember those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.

Parades and services will take place in the town centre and in villages across the district to pay tribute.

Here are the details for the Remembrance Sunday parades and commemorations –

Bromsgrove

On Saturday, there will be an Armistice Day service at 10.50am at the Odd Fellows Memorial on the High Street.

On Remembrance Sunday, those taking part in the parade should muster by Argos, ready to step off at 10.40am. Wreath bearers wishing to process with the Lord Lieutenant, or deputy, to the Odd

Fellows Memorial to be part of the salute on behalf of The King should gather at Amphlett Hall at 10.15am.




The Parade will journey along the High Street giving an eyes left at the Odd Fellows Memorial, where the Salute will be taken on behalf of the King. The Parade then turns into Church Street, crossing Market Street to Crown Close to the War Monument.

The service, led by Rev Ray Khan, the Bromsgrove RBL Chaplain, will start at 10.50am with the Act of Remembrance taking place at 11am.


Aston Fields

There will be a two-minute silence at the War Memorial at 11am tomorrow (Armistice Day). On Remembrance Sunday, wreaths will be laid at 10am at the village’s War Memorial.

A Remembrance Service will then take place at 10.30am at St Godwalds Church.

Catshill

On Remembrance Sunday, there will be the service at 10am at the Catshill Working Men’s Club.

The parade – led by the Bromsgrove Boys Brigade – journeys from Catshill Middle School to the War Memorial at the junction of Meadow Road and Stourbridge Road.

A second service starts around 10.45am with the two-minute silence and wreath laying.

Paul Hatton, who has played the bugle since he was young, will play the Last Post.

Refreshments will be available at Catshill Club afterwards.

Rubery

On Saturday, there will be a short Act of Remembrance outside St Chad’s Church at 10.55am with a two-minute silence at 11am.

On Remembrance Sunday, Rev Claire Turner from St Chad’s Church, will lead a service at 10.45am outside the Rubery Memorial Club.

It will be followed by a parade at 11.10am down New Road and, for those wanting to attend, there will be 15 minutes of prayers, hymns and music inside St Chad’s Church.

Refreshments will be available then from the Rubery Memorial Club. Teas and coffees are free.

At 6.30pm on Remembrance Sunday, there will be a Civic Service of Remembrance at Beacon Church Centre with readings, prayers and hymns.
