Wythall councillor lines up for London's half and full marathon in charity bid

Bromsgrove Editorial 5th Apr, 2024   0

A COUNTY councillor who represents Wythall will take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday (April 7) before returning to the capital for the full marathon there a fortnight later.

Coun Adam Kent will take to London’s streets this weekend for Team Tommy’s which has a vibrant community of runners who support Tommy’s and its crucial work of saving babies’ lives.

Tommy’s undertakes research into miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth while providing invaluable pregnancy health information to parents.

The organisation’s work stems from a belief that it is unacceptable that one in four women lose a baby during pregnancy and birth. Tommy’s envisions a future where every parent has the chance for the best possible pregnancy outcomes and the joy of parents taking home happy, healthy babies.

Coun Kent wants to highlight the good work Tommy’s does, as well as raising cash for the cause.

On April 21, Coun Kent will be lacing up his running shoes again when he lines up for The TCS London Marathon 2024.

He will undertake the 26.2-mile course for Brain Research UK.

The run will be Adam’s fourth London Marathon and his sixth marathon for charity.

Brain Research UK is at the forefront of funding essential research to discover causes, develop treatments, and find cures for neurological conditions.

The charity’s work is vital in advancing our understanding of the brain and ensuring those affected by neurological conditions have hope for the future.

Coun Kent said it was a cause close to his heart – and he added he was running for every family touched by neurological conditions, for every individual fighting their own battle, and for the future of brain research.
