PUPILS at Wychbold First School were presented with special Queen’s Platinum Jubilee cups before they broke up for half-term.
The celebratory gift for each child to remember Her Majesty’s marvellous milestone of 70 years on the throne was designed by the school.
The mugs were presented to the children on behalf of Wychbold Royal British Legion (RBL), Wychbold Sports and Social and Wychbold Association for Residents.
They were funded by a grant from Platform Housing given to the school to help it celebrate the jubilee and it was arranged by Chris Colley who staff said was extremely helpful.
Les Colley, the chairman of Wychbold RBL, gave a speech.
He told the children – long before their parents and grandparents were born – he was given a mug to celebrate The Queen’s Coronation but lost it and really regretted it.
“So, will you please promise to look after your mugs so that one day, when you are grown, you will be able to show your children and grandchildren and remember this special day.
“We give you these mugs today to thank you – as proud parents and grandparents for allowing us to see every now and then, the world through your eyes.”
