THE WORLDS smallest nativity scene will be on display along with 50 cribs at St Laurence Church, Northfield, on November 26 and 27.

The microscopic piece – in the eye of a needle – will have a public audience for the first time.

It has been engraved by hand on a speck of gold inside the eye of a needle by Graham Short.

Canon Janet Chapman, Rector of St Laurence, said: “We are so pleased that Graham’s engraving will be complementing our display of more than 50 Nativity Sets from around the world this weekend.

“We are grateful to Graham for giving us this opportunity to premiere his latest work.”

A sixty-seven-year-old wooden crib will also be featured as part of a Nativity Festival, which was made by Dick Hosking.

The crib stands almost 3 metres high and 1 metre in width.

Sarah, Dick’s daughter, said: “I love the idea of Dad’s set being displayed in Northfield – our family is pure Warwickshire, and we lived in Birmingham for a time.”

Both Dick’s and Graham’s sets along with other 50 other crib sets can be seen between 10am and 3pm on Saturday and between 11am and 3pm on Sunday.

Admission is free, and refreshments will be available.
