Work starts on 98 new homes on Longbridge East site

THE NEXT building phase on the Longbridge East site in Cofton Hackett is set to get under way this month.

St Modwen Homes is bringing 98 properties in total to ‘Cofton Grange’, ranging from two, three and four-bedrooms.

The developer has addressed concerns expressed by the local community to improve the scheme, including removing plans for the apartment block.

It is also making financial contributions to support the NHS trusts (in Bromsgrove, Redditch and Worcestershire) and to Birmingham City Council for improvements to the nearby Lickey Hills Country Park. Plans are also afoot for outdoor fitness equipment to be installed in Cofton Park for the use of residents and visitors.

Cofton Grange will reflect the St Modwen Homes’ purpose of designing developments which are not just about the homes, but also about respecting surrounding landscapes, as well as facilities to help enhance communities and their way of life.

Laura Bisbey, St Modwen Homes’ head of planning, said: “We have listened closely to comments from the local community and have worked hard to address the concerns from key stakeholders and the local residents.

“We have scaled back our previous plans by removing the five-storey apartment building. We recognise the impact that the development can have on local infrastructure and are contributing funds towards the improvements of parks and local medical facilities.

“As a result, we feel we have now achieved a harmonised plan that works for everyone and enhances this long-term vacant site.

The Nina (two-bedroom) properties are aimed at those wanting a foot on the property ladder or considering downsizing.

The three-bedroom Mirin homes are being created for families.
