THE sports partnership Hereford and Worcestershire (SPHW) has announced ‘Worcs Girls Can’ will return in March alongside the new ‘Here Girls Can’ campaign in Herefordshire, writes Olivia Jackson.

A total of 1,500 women and girls have been engaged so far with this campaigns which are designed to get females of all ages, size, ability and shape moving.

Recent research shows among girls over 14, more than a third said they felt insecure, hated other people watching them and were self-conscious about their bodies.

Findings from last year’s campaign revealed 38 per cent of girls in Worcestershire schools were inactive.

In 2018 the focus will be to reduce this statistic and to promote impact the positive impact sport can have on mental health and well being.

In February 2017, SPHW is teaming up with six lead schools across the county, including Aston Fields Middle School in Bromsgrove and Westacre Middle in Droitwich.
