AMATEUR dancers from across Worcestershire have helped raise over £1600 for local charities at their annual Spring Gala event.

In total, 44 dancers took to the Norbury Theatre stage in Droitwich on May 11 to perform a number of routines in ballet, tap and theatre dance styles all set to tunes from musicals.

The dancers, ranging in age from their 30s to their 70s, attend dance lessons for adults with Helena Jane Classes and Coaching. Some of them have previous performing experience, but for many it was their first time on stage.

The Spring Gala, which also featured guest performances, cream teas and a charity raffle, was held in aid of two local charities – Sight Concern Worcestershire & Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.

Both charities were chosen by members of the dance classes.

Organiser Helena Mitchell said: “Everyone had a fabulous day. The dancers performed brilliantly, the audience had a great time and we raised even more for our charities than last year.

“Thanks so much to everyone who supported the gala.”

2024’s Spring Gala was the second annual event and all the dancers are planning to return to the stage next year.
