BROMSGROVE Fire Station’s popular open day returns next month to give people a taste of the grueling and life saving work of the regions fire service.

Visitors to the Slideslow Drive station will experience a host of displays, demonstrations, entertainment and more from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturday, July 6.

Demonstrations will include a mock road traffic collision and a showcase from Fire Cadets. Attendees will also have the chance to meet fire service mascot Welephant and take their own fire engine rides.

The police will be around to showcase their vehicles and firearms. The ambulance service will also be attending to showcase their vehicles, equipment and training.

Specialist fire and rescue staff including Hazardous Area Response and Urban Search and Rescue teams will be on hand to give visitors an understanding of their roles.

There will also be a smoke tent experience and a virtual reality experience as well as a live samba band and fairground rides to keep everyone entertained.

Last but not least, an anti-knife crime stand will be raising awareness of the dangers of carrying a knife.

Limited free parking is available opposite the fire station. Attendance is free, donations are welcomed. Refreshments will be provided.
