Worcestershire charity looking for volunteers to help the partially sighted

SIGHT Concern Worcestershire is appealing for volunteers to offer that most precious of gifts – time.

It says a visitor calling in regularly can make a huge difference to a blind or partially sighted person’s life whether it be for a chat, companionship, helping to read correspondence over a cuppa or looking through the newspapers.

Volunteers can go further too, helping others get out of the house, walk around their local area or take part in an activity.

Jenny Gage, chief executive at Sight Concern said: “The activity and time commitment depends on the person and the volunteer – so this could work for anyone whether you have an hour to spare once every week or two, or if you are able to support someone to take part in an activity or buddy up on a hobby that you already enjoy.

“We want our volunteers to enjoy the time they give, so we work hard to match people with common interests. Many of our volunteers tell us of the joy it brings to them as well as to the person they visit.”
