POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in a ‘taxi’ in Bromsgrove.

At about 9.20pm on Sunday (January 22), a 30-year-old woman ordered a taxi after being in the Crown Inn pub with friends.

A car pulled up and when the woman asked if it was a taxi for her the driver said yes, so she got into the front seat.

As they drove away, the man, who is not believed to be a taxi driver, put his hand on her thigh.

She asked him to stop the car and she got out and returned to the pub.

She was not injured, but shaken by the incident.

The driver was a white man in his early 30’s with short blonde hair, a fringe swept to the side and stubble on his face.

He spoke slowly and may have had a stutter.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who was outside the Crown Inn at the time and might have seen the car and its driver, or has any information which might help them with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 or through their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org quoting incident 563 of 22 January.
