PARENTS can now get 30 free hours of education for their three to four-year-olds at Winterfold School in Chaddesley Corbett.
The scheme, recently introduced by the school, is available to working families through the Government-funded scheme.
Winterfold prides itself on a relaxed, happy atmosphere and, following their time at nursery, children go through Kindergarten 1 and 2 and then onto reception.
Winterfold has a teacher and assistants and by September the kindergarten will have undergone a complete refurbishment with a new seating area and separate space for eating. There will be an outside play area for messy play, home corner and quiet area, the children will have use of an ActivPanel and the room will have completely new furnishings.
There is also a newly developed Forest School with a large pond in which children can do pond dipping, a shelter for activities, fire pit and bird hide.
And plans are afoot to plant an orchard and woodland.
The children will be able to be part of the project, helping plant them and then watch their lasting legacy grow.
Headmistress Denise Toms said “The pre-school years are an important time in children’s lives when they first learn how to interact with other children, teachers and parents and begin to develop their own interests.
“By introducing the 30 free hours, we are able to broaden the access to a Winterfold education.”
