Westminster Diary - Bromsgrove MP meets with headteachers and charities

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Oct, 2020   0

WITH the full return of students in Bromsgrove District’s schools, I have been meeting online with local headteachers this month to discuss the challenges they are facing.

The discussions have been very productive and have provided me casework to present to Ministers and Government officials.

I also had the chance to meet with some of our fantastic local charities recently, including the Primrose Hospice, the Basement Project and Cancer Research UK Bromsgrove.

They have gone above and beyond to support residents throughout this difficult period and their work remains so important.

As a proud patron of Primrose Hospice, I was pleased to raise over £13,000 for the Hospice this month by taking part in a 10k charity run.

Sadly, at the time of my writing this article, families in Bromsgrove District are being asked not to visit their loved ones in care homes, due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.

Public Health Worcestershire have my support in their efforts to protect the vulnerable. I am in contact with officials, who are working hard to gather more information and establish any potential connections in confirmed cases.

It is everyone’s responsibility to keep our community safe. By socially distancing, washing your hands and wearing face coverings where appropriate – you’ll be saving lives. With a united effort, we will beat back this virus.
