THE West Mercia Police Crime and Commissioner (PCC) has commended the Special Constabulary for its hard work and dedication in the serving the public, writes Rhys Goodfellow.
There are 394 officers currently dedicating their own time, as part of the Special Constabulary, with a large number also currently undergoing training.
Commissioner John Campion, who is also the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, Deputy Lead on Citizens in Policing, said: “I’m extremely grateful to those who volunteer their time and it’s important they get the reward and recognition they deserve.”
Since April last year, they have worked around 60,000 hours, which in perspective, is nearly seven collective years of service in just nine months.
West Mercia Chief Supt Charles Hill said: “The dedication and selflessness of these officers cannot be underestimated.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every Special Constable for their precious free time and the counties of West Mercia are safer as a result of their individual contributions.”
