THERE has been a twist in the tale in one of the Bromsgrove divisions ahead of tomorrow’s Worcestershire County Council elections with the Labour candidate endorsing the Liberal Democrat candidate.
Mattie Osborne, standing in Bromsgrove East, has backed Lib Dem’s Samuel Evans to ‘prevent splitting a progressive vote in the area’.
Due to election rules, Mr Osborne’s name will remain on the ballot paper but he is urging his supporters to vote Liberal Democrat.
Mr Evans praised the hard work his Labour counterpart had put in during the campaign, describng his actions as ‘honourable’ to put party politics aside and work with him.
Mr Evans said: “Speaking with residents over the last few months it is clear that it is a two-horse race in Bromsgrove East between the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives and that with Mattie’s support to unseat the Conservatives much-needed change in the area can finally happen.”
In a video posted on Mr Evans’ Facebook page, the pair said they had a discussion over the past few days and the only way to beat the Conservatives was by ‘working together to oust the Conservatives’.

Conservative candidate Kit Taylor said: “To do that at this stage is an absolute disgrace – there will have been postal votes from both Labour and Liberal Democrats already in.
“Those who have already voted Labour will be absolutely horrified.
“There are fundamental differences between the two parties and what they are doing is denying the people of Bromsgrove their rightful democratic choice.
“They should both hang their heads in shame.”
