A WARNING has been issued to people not to use disposable barbecues on the Lickey Hills after a fire at the Rubery beauty spot.
A crew from Redditch was sent to the scene to extinguish the blaze and firefighters, while they were on the hills, found a number of discarded barbecues.
The crew dampened down every one to ensure none of them would reignite.
But Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said it wanted to remind people that disposable barbecues or fires are not permitted on the hills as blazes could spread and lead to devastating consequences.
West Mercia Police has been informed about the situation and officers were in attendance at yesterday’s fire.
