Warning issued about 'scam' airport parking

Bromsgrove Editorial 15th Feb, 2019   0

WORCESTERSHIRE Regulatory Services is warning holidaymakers to be on their guard when booking airport parking following a number of recent high profile cases involving ‘scam’ airport parking, writes Demi Andrews.

The victims in these cases had paid for a ‘meet and greet’ service with the promise of parking at a ‘secure’ compound.

Customers returning from their holiday had found their cars covered in mud after they had been parked in fields, on residential streets or even received parking tickets after being left in abandoned pub car parks.

Worcestershire Regulatory Services (Trading Standards) is advising consumers to use one of the main car parking companies they recognise the name of, use the official Airport website and to check that the company is a member of one of the car parking trade associations.

Coun Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: ‘When preparing for your holiday, it is easy to fail to make proper checks to confirm that your car will be safe and secure when you are away.

“Using secure Aiport parking will mean that your car is being looked-after, even when you are thousands of miles away and will give you peace of mind to enjoy your holiday.”
