A VIGIL in memory of The Queen will now take place between 6pm.and 8pm this evening at The Castle on the Beacon on the Lickey Hills.
Originally it was reported Birmingham City Council, which owns the country park, did not want the event to take place but now it can go ahead.
Coun Simon Morrall, who has worked to get the event held, said: “I’m happy to announce and that the City Coucil have come around with an agreement to host this event.”
At 8pm to tonight there is a National Moment of Reflection taking place across the UK and that minute’s silence will also be observed at the event, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
People are welcome to bring flowers and Coun Morrall is hoping to organise a book of condolence to be at the Castle for the duration of the event.
Candles will only be lit on the concrete Castle area.
The car park will be open until 8.30pm/9pm.
With a minute silence at 8pm
Followed by the national anthem.
Coun Morrall added: “I don’t care who you are, how you vote, or what your background is.
“This is an opportunity for the whole community to come together and pay a special tribute to a remarkable women who has given so much to this country.
“It was only fitting, to do it on a castle.
“Let’s make this something special.
“God Save The King!”
