Video to help Worcestershire parents and grandparents with baby loss

Bromsgrove Editorial 18th Oct, 2020   0

MIDWIFERY bereavement staff from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust have prepared this touching video for parents and grandparents who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby.

The video features bereavement midwife Trudy Berlet and Chaplain David Southall and includes a poem and a musical reflection centred around an array of candles.

It was filmed against the backdrop of Worcestershire Royal Hospital which was lit in pink and blue to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week 2020 this week, October 9 to 15.

Rev Southall said: “In normal times we would come together as different families to mark the loss of our babies.

“It is a deep sadness to us that in these strange times we can’t meet together in the same way.

“Trudy and I hope that in some small way this video marks a moment in the life of precious little ones and lets families know that they are not forgotten.”

Trudy added: “It’s really important to us that families have a chance to mark their loss and remember in their own space.

“We really hope this video goes some small way to marking the occasion for those we have supported, and their babies, and reminds them that they are not far from our thoughts.”

The video is available to watch at the top of this story.

Ongoing support can be accessed from Worcester-based charity Cedar Tree, which offers free and confidential support for those who have experienced pregnancy loss.
